EDGELL TAKES FIRST V8 WIN

Tim Edgell of Auckland has followed up his first pole position in the BNT V8s Championship with his first race win in the opening race of Round 5 of the series at Manfeild Park in Feilding this morning.

Edgell had set the fastest qualifying time in his Chesters Falcon at the 3.03 kilometre circuit yesterday afternoon and led the 24 car field away in the 12 lap race this morning.

After emerging from the tussle into the first corner in the lead Edgell drove away to win by almost 3 seconds from defending champion Kayne Scott of Hamilton.

"The car was really good," said an elated Edgell after the race. "I drove well within myself and the Chesters Falcon was handling great!"

Tim and the Chesters Falcon line up for the second race, also over 12 laps, at 12.55pm while the final event, a reverse grid race over 22 laps starts at 4.00pm.

Tim's 2009/2010 BNT V8s Championship campaign is supported by Chesters Plumbing and Bathroom, BNT, Marley NZ Ltd, Laufen Bathrooms, Hansen Products, Fuchs Oils, Wurth NZ and Element 82.
