IMPRESSIVE START FOR MCNALLY ON ADELAIDE STREETS

Rhys McNally has begun his first V8 Utes event with an impressive run in qualifying to be 14th fastest after just two sessions around the concrete lined street circuit in Adelaide today.

With just two test days under his belt, Rhys is still trying to come to terms with the different way the V8 Ute handles compared to the Formula Ford he is used to.

"The V8 Ute is so heavy compared to the Formula Ford, and that is the main thing that I have to get used to; they are so different to anything I have raced before," Rhys said.

"I was quite nervous today, I have never driven on a street track before so we just had to go easy and work up our speed.

"I am sure that I can go faster as the weekend progresses."

Rhys is enjoying the circuit's flowing nature but has been left gob smacked by the high speed turn 8.

"You've gotta be committed at turn 8, it is so fast with no room for error," he said.

"I am really starting to relax now that I have done a couple of sessions, I think the team is also happy with my progress."

Rhys will share the driving duties with Tim Shaw as part of the Ten Years of Legends event where each driver has one race each and combine for the final event on Sunday.
