V8 Utes return to the streets of the Gold Coast

After a three year absence the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All will revisit the streets of the Gold Coast for the first time since 2007, for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 and Round 7 of the Series 22 - 24 of October.

This year the V8 Utes will be hosted in the heart of Surfers Paradise at the Mantra Sun City and Executive General Manager Mark Hodge is looking forward to the opportunity.

There is a great atmosphere around Mantra Sun City Resort when the racing fans are on the Gold Coast and we are delighted to be the home of the impressive V8 Utes," said Mr Hodge.

The V8 Utes comeback to the Gold Coast event has been timed well with 2010 being the 10th Anniversary of the Series and category manager, Craig Denyer, couldn't be happier.

"We love coming to the Gold Coast. The drivers love it and most importantly the fans love having us here. We are lucky to have Mantra Sun City involved and I think it will work well having the Utes paddocked there," explained Denyer.

As the Gold Coast street race is one of the most renowned race meets in Australia it's no surprise that the V8 Utes are excited to be back. The Gold Coast street race first began in the early 1990's and the event has developed over the years with the V8 Utes competing in the years 2001, 2002, 2006 and 2007, and needless to say the Utes are excited about their return to the track after a break from the event since 2007.

"It's been a long time in between Gold Coast Rounds but it will be no shortage of entertainment. In our tenth year of door-to-door racing and 32 V8 Utes on the grid it will be non-stop action packed," said Denyer.

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 is a highly anticipated event and is likely to be a great spectacle for all motor sport enthusiasts to come and enjoy.

With only two months and two rounds leading up to the Gold Coast event you can be sure that when it gets here it will be a weekend to remember. It's also anticipated that the V8 Utes will have two LIVE races aired on Channel Seven over the weekend.
