V8 Utes Calendar Locked and Loaded for 2011

The 2011 Calendar for the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by Armor All has just been announced and with all eight rounds confirmed on the V8 Supercar Calendar, it's sure to be a screamer of a year.

The V8 Utes will kick off their eleventh year at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, and will then head to Western Australia for the first time in two years to compete at Barbagallo Raceway.

Western Australian Car Club President Rick Gill is pleased to have the Utes back in the state and thinks they will be a big draw-card for the crowd.

"It's fantastic, the crowd loves them, the competitors love them, and if I had enough time I'd drive one myself."

Gill, who competed in the Series this year at Winton Raceway, will be trying hard to land a ride in front of a home fan base.

"I will definitely do my upmost to try and get in one myself and time permitting I would love to do more national events in V8 Utes," explained Gill.

The Utes will return to the Top End for Round 3 at Darwin's Hidden Valley, then move southeast through sugarcane country to Townsville for the Sucrogen 400, before a two month break.

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will mark the half-way point of the Series, where the Ford and Holden rivalry will again be hard fought at the famous Mount Panorama, before they hit the streets of the Gold Coast for the second year in a row.

The penultimate round of the Series will be held in Victoria at the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge, before closing out the series for the third year in a row at the Sydney Telstra 500.

SPHERIXS' Craig Denyer, the V8 Ute category manager is pleased with the calendar covering four states and one territory, and believes the racing will be even better in 2011.

"It's great that we are covering so many states. We are very happy to be on all the primary V8 Supercar events," explained Denyer. "It's also fantastic to be heading back to Perth, given that Grant Johnson and Rhys McNally are Perth based and have had such a great year. Rick Gill and Alan Letcher have also supported the series this year so this will be a great bonus for the Perth boys."

The V8 Ute Series is now in its 11th season, featuring a stellar cast of drivers and personalities racing door to door in 16 Ford and 16 Holden production based identical utes.

The series is now televised LIVE on the Seven Network, and replayed to over 40 countries and 80 territories worldwide to a potential television audience in excess of 20 million homes. Please find below 2011 V8 Utes Calendar
