MCNALLY QUALIFIES 22ND FOR V8 UTES AT BATHURST

Rhys McNally qualified 22nd at Mount Panorama Bathurst today for the V8 Utes in his first race meeting at the iconic circuit.

With only about 6 or 7 laps to get acquainted with the circuit yesterday, Rhys went into today's qualifying with very little experience on the longer than most circuit.

"I definitely improved myself today," Rhys said.

"I am more confident and pushing harder with every lap.

"It is a bit disappointing being in 22nd but that is more a reflection of the difficulty of this particular circuit and the need for as many laps as possible to get up to speed with the front guys."

Rhys is happy that he has a straight car considering the concrete lined circuit and is focused on making his way up the field in tomorrow's two races.

"I want to try and get some clean air and aim to get into the mid-teens by the end of the first race.

"If I can do that then I will give myself the best shot for the reverse grid second race."

With two races tomorrow and one on Sunday Rhys has plenty of laps to make his way up the field before the end of the weekend.

"I know that I need to improve over the top of the mountain as getting it wrong on one corner will effect speed right across the top."
