Robert Megennis will race in the USF2000 championship in 2016, continuing his collaboration with Team Pelfrey after a year in F1600 with the squad.
The American, aged 15, had been ruled him out of the F1600 season opener this season, but rebounded to become a regular podium finisher by the end of his maiden campaign.
He completed the season in eighth overall.
“I am beyond excited to join the USF2000 Series with Team Pelfrey next year. Moving up to the Mazda Road to Indy takes me one step closer to my dream of a career in motorsports," said Megennis.
"I am going to do my best to make the racing exciting and the paddocks fun. Nonetheless, despite being a rookie, I am here to win."
Team Pelfrey, which is yet to confirm any drivers besides Megennis, was the only team that fielded four full-time racers in 2015 with Luke Gabin ending up as their top entry in sixth.
They will be the only squad present on all three steps of the Mazda Road to Indy next year, having recently announced an expansion to Indy Lights.
