JDC MOTORSPORTS COMMENCES CHASE FOR USF2000 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN ST. PETE
Three-car effort will feature series rookies Abbate, Goikhberg and Sala getting behind the wheel

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (March 24, 2010) - JDC MotorSports commences its pursuit of another championship trophy to add to its display case this weekend (March 27-28), with the reigning Star Mazda Championship and F2000 Championship Series title holders taking part in Rounds One and Two of the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda. As part of the IndyCar Series Grand Prix of St. Petersburg event, series rookies Raphael Abbate, Mikhail Goikhberg and Martin Sala will get behind the wheel for the Minnesota-based team on the streets of St. Petersburg, FL, ready to challenge for top honors.

JDC MotorSports, having first made its pro racing mark in the initial offering of the USF2000 National Championship in the early 1990s, enters its latest racing endeavor following its most successful season to date in 2009. The Minnesota squad was a force to be reckoned in the junior formula car ranks last year, winning the Star Mazda Championship for a second time, as well as its inaugural pro Formula Ford 2000 title via the F2000 Championship Series. While past history does not guarantee success, JDC MotorSports believes that its three-car driver line-up has the skills and tools to not only challenge for race wins during the season-opening doubleheader, but also be a threat for Rookie of the Year and Championship title honors.

A native of Brazil, Abbate will make his North American racing debut in Florida driving the No. 11 Alphacolor/Avery Denison/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry. While the 18 year-old enters the season-opener new to F2000 competition, he has enjoyed plenty of success in the junior formula car ranks, most recently finishing a close second in the Light class of the F3 SudAmericana championship with four wins.

Goikhberg travels to the sunshine state with JDC MotorSports poised to build on a successful 2009 race campaign in Canada. The 22 year-old Russian, who will drive the No. 10 Chetverg/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car, he scored two podium positions as a title contender in the highly regarded Ontario Formula Ford Championship, as well as finishing an impressive sixth place in his F2000 Championship Series debut.

For Sala, the 2010 USF2000 season-opener with JDC marks the next step in his young North American motorsports career. The 19 year-old Colombian will get behind the wheel of the No. 19 Gulf/Aero Gal/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry following an inaugural season of car racing in the Formula BMW Americas series that featured one top-five finish and 11 top-10s.

JDC MotorSports' three-car effort in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered Mazda gets underway on Friday morning (March 26), with the first of two practice sessions on the St. Petersburg street circuit. Day two in Florida commences with a morning qualifying run, followed by Round One later in the day. Round Two of the season-opener doubleheader will take place on Sunday morning (March 28), with the grid set by each driver's fast time in the opening race.
