Of the new manufacturers James Moffat in the Norton 360 Nissan and Lee Holdsworth in the Irwin Tools Mercedes finished 13th and 17th respectively whilst their team mates all received DNF's. Over the course of the weekend neither teams have made it higher than 13th through practice, qualifying or in the race. Superstitious not not !. With a few more races under their belt they're sure to improve.

Craig Lowndes in the Red Bull Commodore leads the championship after the first with a win yesterday and a 3rd today. He wasn't able to eclipse Mark Skaife's record and will have to wait until Tasmania. At one stage he moved to second and was then pushed wide and was forth behind Russell Ingall, however managed to pass him with a handful of laps to go. Shane Van Gizbergen won his third race in his short career in V8 Supercars, the first coming at Hamilton in New Zealand and his second at Hidden Valley in the Northern Territory. The Giz said that his home track win at Hamilton was the best being in front of his home crowd and that the Clipsal 500 came a close second. It's the first time that a Kiwi has won the race and he goes into the record books.
Van Gizbergen becomes to first driver since 2011 to win a race in the championship apart from Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes, Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison

The Red Bull Commodores almost ended their chances of a podium after Whincup went wide pushing Lowndes onto the dirty line of the track resulting in Ingall grabbing 2nd. Lowndes recovered to grab back 3rd. The Jack Daniel Nissans were involved in a shunt as they turned onto the straight with Jason Bright ending Todd Kelly's race. Kelly's car looked like a transformer as it limped around the track

Today's top 10 in qualifying, Van Gisbergen, Winterbottom, Whincup, Davison, Coulthard, Premat, McLaughlin, Lowndes, Ingall and Courtney. It is effectively a Ford / Holden wash out with the closest of the new manufacturers being Rick Kelly in the Jack Daniels Nissan in 16th.

Everyone was asking whether Shane Van Gisbergen stalled on the grid yesterday. The answer is no, he didn't put the car in gear. Adapting from last year to the Car of the Future things like this will occur. You can bet the "Giz" doesn't make the same mistake again.

Garth Tander and Fabian Coulthard exchanged words after this morning's qualifying. Coulthard in the Lockwood Racing Commodore clipped the Holden Racing Commodore as they both turned onto pit straight. It will be interesting to see what occurs during the race.
