Can someone explain to me how the German courts have any jurisdiction over an event that happened in China.
Surely the jurisdiction it should be tried in would be China.
I can't see that any proceedings in Germany would have any legal standing even if Sutil is a German citizen you do the time in the country you commited the crime.

It's a weird law... some times people can be tried in their home country rather than in the country they committed the crime in. I have no idea whether this applies in this case though.

Surely under the European Union Human Rights Act this is a violation of his human rights.
It's used every day to stop people from being prosecuted for far more serious things so why doesn't it apply to him?
The German government is using a law passed by Hitler to refuse to extradite a man convicted of war crimes but is prosecuting someone who is alleged to have commited an assault in China.
Strange way that governments enforce the law.
