HELBERG, NEW ROCKY MOUNTAIN POINT LEADER, EYES SATURDAY'S RACE AT SALT LAKE CITY; MURGOITIO WINS 50-LAPPER AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS

JoJo Helberg of Rohnert Park, Calif. has taken the point lead away from defending Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Champion Ryan Burdett and looks forward to this Saturday night's series finale at Salt Lake City, Utah. A 40-lap feature is on tap at Rocky Mountain Raceways.

Mike Murgoitio of Meridian, Idaho won Saturday night's 50-lap USAC Western/Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint race at RMR, leading the last seven laps of a race which featured eight lead changes among five drivers. Trailing Murgoitio's GM Land & Cattle Eagle/Losorwith Chevy were Western Sprint point leader Tanner Swanson, Porter Smith, Nick Rescino Jr. and Brian McClish. Jim Waters, Smith, McClish, Swanson and Murgoitio all took turns leading the extremely-competitive feature event.

Helberg's finished sixth Saturday and his point lead stands at seven points over Burdett, who finished 11th Saturday.

Swanson will take a 102-point Western Sprint point lead into a September 13 race at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif.
