Tony Hunt of Fair Oaks, Calif. and Jeff Gardner of Fresno, Calif. renew their intense duel for this year's USAC Western Sprint Car Series championship this Saturday night when the series returns to the Carson Tahoe Champion Speedway in Carson City, Nev.

A 40-lap feature event is scheduled on the 1/3-mile paved oval, following complete preliminaries. A total of 72 points are available, with the difference between Hunt and Gardner only six points!

Gardner won the 1998 title and Hunt was second to Todd Ellison in last year's standings but is seeking his first series championship. Hunt actually scored his initial USAC championship in 1992, winning the Russell Pro Series crown with a first, first and second-place finish!

Hunt and Gardner each have one win this season, Hunt winning at Dodge City, Kans. and Gardner at Boise, Ida.
