WESTERN MIDGETS PART OF SATURDAY'S TRACY "DOUBLEHEADER;" FAAS CONTINUED WINNING WAYS AT VENTURA

Nic Faas of Huntington Beach, Calif. extended his lead in the USAC Western Midget Series Saturday night at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway and heads for Altamont Motorsports Park this Saturday with a healthy 150-point edge over Scott Pierovich in the latest series standings.

Faas passed Pierovich on the 20th lap of the 30-lap Ventura race and led the rest of the way in his Western Speed Racing machine to beat Rick Hendrix, Pierovich, Austin Mero and Randi Pankratz.

Jonathan Henry, Hendrix, Ernie Bartley III and Pierovich all led early laps but Faas led the one that counted at the end.

Faas has finished second and third in his last two Altamont outings. Four different drivers have won at Tracy this season and for each it marked their only win of the campaign. They are Paul Zimmerly, Shane Golobic, C.J. Sarna and Bobby Grewohl.
