Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway, which is slated to close at the conclusion of the 2006 racing season, will host the "Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic" April 22, featuring the USAC & BCRA Western Midgets and the USAC & CASA Western Sprint Cars. A 100-lap Midget and 50-lap Sprint race are part of the racing festival.

Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. leads the Western Midget Car Series standings, 34 points ahead of Tyler Brown heading into the Stockton race. Lewis, a former USAC Western Sprint Car Champion, finished seventh in Saturday night's rac at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.

Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach, Calif. led all but the opening lap at Ventura for his third career triumph. He was followed at the checkered flag by Jerry Coons Jr., Brown, defending series champion and fast qualifier Jerome Rodela and former series titlist Johnny Rodriguez.

Hansen currently sits sixth in the standings after his Ventura win.
