Alex Harris of Simi Valley, Calif. would like to be the fourth different USAC WorldCom Western Midget Car winner this year when the series returns to the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Friday and Saturday night.

Harris trails Danny Ebberts by 34 points and could challenge for the series lead with 72 points up for grabs. Ebberts, however, is one of the three previous Perris winners this year, winning the August race there. Robby Flock won there in May and Thomas Meseraull won the June race.

Harris has four second-place finishes among his eight "top-fives" this season, including a second and a fifth at Perris. In August he did not make the feature event.

Friday's preliminaries begin with practice at 6 pm and include qualifying and heat races. Saturday night's program includes an eight-lap "qualifying race" and a 30-lap feature on the 1/2-mile dirt track.
