Former USAC Western Midget Car Champion Steve Paden recorded his third victory of the 2004 campaign in Saturday night's 30-lapper at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway, leading all 30 laps.

The Downey, Calif. veteran put his Esslinger Engineering/Anglemyer Crane Stealth/Esslinger in the lead at the start and never looked back as he led series point leader Johnny Rodriguez to the checkered flag. Stephen Graves, fast qualifier Garrett Hansen and Shannon McQueen rounded out the "top-five."

Rodriguez continues to hold a large lead in the series standings going into this Saturday night's 30-lapper at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

Ironically, Paden's previous 2004 victories came at Bakersfield and Perris, both in May.
