"Hemelgarn Night" at Toledo Friday, IRP Sprints Saturday.

J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz. trails Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. by 79 points going into races Friday night at Toledo, Ohio and Saturday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park. A total of 144 points are available in the two events.

Yeley led all but the first three laps of Sunday night's Coca Cola "Showdown at the Prairie" 30-lapper at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. Tony Stewart led the first three laps, then yielded to Yeley on lap four. Yeley led the rest of the way in his ABC Sand & Rock/Red Line Oil RPM/Twister to beat Stewart, Cory Kruseman, Hines and Turbines, Inc. fast qualifier Tony Elliott.

Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. set a new 1-lap track qualifying record of 128.333 mph at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway Friday night, then passed Hines on the 27th lap and led the final four laps to win the "Rich Vogler Classic" on the 1/2-mile pavement in his Northside Propane/Eagle Jet International Gaerte/Beast. Hines, Yeley, Brian Tyler and Jay Drake trailed Steele at the checkered flag. Drake led the first 21 laps of the race, then Hines led for the next five before Steele moved to the front.

Practice starts at 4:30 pm and qualifying is set for 6. The first race gets under way at 7:30 and the feature is 30 laps. The race will be telecast on ESPN2 Saturday, July 20, at 11 pm EST.
