TULSA, Okla. (September 13, 2004) -- Wingless USAC racing action returns to the Tulsa Fairgrounds Motorplex dirt oval for two big nights of racing this Friday and Saturday night, culminating with the Second Annual running of the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series O'Reilly Tulsa "100" presented by Flowmaster.
Closing on his first USAC championship, former Chili Bowl champion Jay Drake of Val Verde, CA, leads the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series into the "Night before the 100" event on Friday night, while Florida's David Steele leads the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series championship points race into Saturday night's event.
A number of drivers will pull double duty for the weekend, which gets an early start with Wednesday night's Roper Classic for the USAC National Sprint Car series at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Missouri. Among those expected to compete in each event are Jay Drake, USAC Sprint Week champion Levi Jones, USAC triple crown champion Dave Darland, Tony Elliott, Brian Tyler, Jerry Coons, Jr., Matt Westfall, Oklahoma City's Larry Neighbors and defending Tulsa "100" champion Bud Kaeding.
Zach Chappell of Talala, OK, will lead the local contingent in Friday night's Sprint Car event, with defending ASCS National champion Travis Rilat of Forney, TX, expected to be on hand as well.
The runner-up in last year's inaugural O'Reilly Tulsa "100", J.J. Yeley will be on hand to vie for victory honors on Saturday night, as will Boston Reid, who made his NASCAR Busch Series debut this past Saturday at Richmond International Raceway, and former USAC Silver Crown champion Paul White of Temple, TX.
Friday's Sprint Car qualifying at Tulsa Fairgrounds Motorplex begins at 7:00 p.m., with racing at 8:00 p.m. Saturday's Silver Crown qualifying begins at 6:00 p.m., with racing action getting under way at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets for the Friday night, September 17, USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series event are $31 for box seating, $26 for reserved seating and $21 for general admission.
Luxury box seats for the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series O'Reilly Tulsa "100" presented by Flowmaster on Saturday night, September 18, are available for just $36, with Reserved seating available for $31 and General Admission only $26.
