Quarter Midget Racers Invade Indy

(Indianapolis, IN) Beginning on Saturday, July 19, more than 700 Quarter Midget race cars will begin unloading at the Mini-Indy Speedway Quarter Midget Track located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The occasion is the Quarter Midgets of America Eastern Grand National Event, hosted by the Central Indiana Quarter Midget Association.

Quarter Midgets of America is the largest sanctioning body for Quarter Midgets, with its business office at the United States Auto Club. Each year racers aged 5 to 16 qualify for the Grand National Events at States races held throughout the country over Memorial Day weekend.

"We are excited to have the QMA Eastern Grands here in Indy this year," said Rollie Helmling, President of USAC. "These young men and women are the future of the sport of open wheel racing, and I would encourage all the open wheel fans to take an opportunity to go the Fairgrounds and see the future stars of USAC." Helmling continued.

The QMA Grands at the Indiana State Fairgrounds takes the track at the Mini-Indy Speedway each morning at 9:00 AM from July 20 to the 26th. The young racers will practice on Sunday and Monday, qualify on Tuesday and begin racing on Wednesday. The A-Main events for all 15 QMA classes will be held on Saturday, July 26.
