Terre Haute, IN -June 16, 2003- Tyler Walker and the R.E. Technologies race team came close to winning the Sumar Classic 100, but fell short when the #35 suffered possible fuel pickup problems with 17 laps to go Saturday night at the Terre Haute Action Track.

Walker qualified 15th in the Curb Agajanian Special, but started 14th when Donnie Beechler was scratched. From there he moved up through the field cautiously passing cars to move into 9th position by the halfway mark. Walker took off passing 7 cars in 20 laps and set his sights on leader J.J. Yeley, but could never get by the eventual winner of the Sumar Classic 100.

"I knew we would be good in the race. I was just trying to be patient," explained Walker. "We ended up in second and I was still trying to be patient. I thought we would be alright."

On lap 81 the #35 developed fuel problems and started sputtering. The sputtering caused Walker to spin out bringing out a caution on lap 83.

"I ran around the outside of the race track all night," said Walker. "We got low on fuel and started sputtering and ended up spinning out. It was just one of those things."

The crew quickly refueled the car, but had to wait for the next caution to reenter the track. Walker came back onto the track 8 laps down and finished in 11th position.

"The car felt good and I was getting more comfortable each lap," Walker stated. "I am real happy with the team and our sponsor Curb Records. Everyone did a good job. We are going to do more testing at the Memphis Motorsports Park Monday in the pavement car. We will make some more improvements on it and go to Richmond strong. Hopefully, we will be able to come out of there with a win."
