RAINS FORCE 2ND TERRE HAUTE POSTPONEMENT TO SEPT. 17

Heavy rains at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track have forced a second postponement of the Pepsi "Sumar Classic 100" USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet event at the 1/2-mile dirt track. The race has been rescheduled for Friday night, September 17. The next event on the Coors Light Silver Bullet calendar is the 100-mile race at the 1-mile paved Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway July 16-17. That race marks a return to the series' roots, as the track, in its original 1-1/8 mile dirt configuration, hosted the series' inaugural race in 1971, won by Jim McElreath. Ryan Newman of South Bend, Ind. continues to lead the Silver Bullet standings by 23 points over Russ Gamester of Peru, Ind.
