Brandon Lane of Mesa, Ariz. scored his initial USAC feature victory in Saturday night's 30-lap Southwest Sprint Car Series event at Thunder Raceway in Show Low, Ariz. The win helped jumble the standings in the series which will reach its mid-way point this week.

No less than seven drivers are separated by only 52 points going into this Saturday night's race at Rocky Mountain Speedway in Denver, Colo. A 30-lap feature is slated on the 1/2-mile dirt track which has previously played host to USAC Silver Crown and Midget Car events. A total of 72 points are available in Saturday's program.

Lane, driving the Toy Story Construction/Klein Engines Ellis/Klein, passed Robert Hall, Jr. on the 19th lap at Show Low and led the rest of the way to beat Hall, who led the first 18 laps, Rick Ziehl, fast qualifier Eric Wilkins and J.T. Imperial. Lane's win boosted him into the series point lead, 16 ahead of Ziehl and 31 ahead of lady driver Kaylene Verville, who was 13th at Show Low.

Mike Martin, the series point leader entering the event, flipped on the 10th lap of the feature and was treated at a local hospital for a mild concussion and released. He slipped from first to fifth in the new points as a result.
