Teddy Beach of Donnellsville, Ohio recorded his initial USAC National Midget Car feature victory Saturday night, winning the Little Trees USAC "Mini-Indy Midget 200" at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va.

Beach led all 40 laps on the 4/10-mile paved oval in his Beach Mfg./Fram Gaerte Ford/Beast to beat J.J. Yeley, Aaron Fike, Bobby East and A.J. Fike to the checkered flag. The win solidified his eight-place position in the new USAC National Midget Car standings going into three November races in Arizona, California and Nevada which conclude the 2002 racing season.

Yeley's finish left him 86 points behind series point leader Dave Darland, who did not compete after learning of his father's untimely death due to a heart attack at age 69.

Dave Steele was Saturday night's fastest qualifier but finished ninth at South Boston. Heat race victories went to East, A.J. Fike and Beach, while Billy Wease, making his initial USAC National start, won the 10-lap semi.
