Waters Regains Point Lead at Salt Lake City

Defending USAC/SLVRA Port O' Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Champion Jim Waters is back on top of the standings after his victory in Saturday night's 40-lap race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City.

Waters passed Mel Andrus on the 16th lap and led the rest of the way in his Lake Elsinore Hotel & Casino/Crossroads West/Port O'Call Beast Chevy to beat Brian Evans, Andrus, Mike Baisch and Jimmy Wysong. The win was Waters' third in this year's series.

The win left Waters with a four-point lead over Baisch entering an August 15 event at the 3/8-mile paved oval.
