Pardee leads Fitzgerald to Monday's SLC race.

Rick Pardee of Salt Lake City, Utah leads Dave Fitzgerald by two points going into next Monday night's Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City.

Fitzgerald won the series opener at the 3/8-mile paved oval May 10 but Pardee's fast qualifying time and second-place feature finish outpointed Fitzgerald. Pardee also posted a fast qualifying effort in a USAC Western Sprint Car event at the track in 2000.

Fitzgerald's victory in the May 10 opener was his 10th in USAC competition at the track. He previously won nine Supermodified races there in the mid-1980s.

A 40-lap feature event will conclude Monday night's race, the second in the 12-race series sponsored by Port-O-Call.
