FASTEST BUT NOT FIRST AT RICHMOND
Richmond, Va. -- Cameron Dodson and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing had the fastest car on the track but bad luck prevented them from winning Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway.
The No. 199 Larry Wallace Ford powered Hoosier Tires/ Red Line Oil car was fast in practice Friday. Dodson qualified the car 6th quick in his first Silver Crown0x2122 race at Richmond. The No. 199 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing entry led the final practice session on Saturday. When the green flag fell, Cameron Dodson was fast and appeared to miss a race ending incident when Mike Murgoitio spun and slid up the track making light contact with the No. 199. Dodson appeared to drive away without problems but 22 laps later a cut tire forced the No. 199 to the pits. The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team quickly went to work changing the cut tire. Remarkably, Dodson only lost 2 laps while the other competitors circled the 0x00be mile short track. When the green flag dropped again, Dodson moved though the field turning laps faster than the rest of the field. The USAC Silver Crown Series rookie slid in behind leader Brian Tyler and turned good laps, finishing 9th.
"We didn't have much luck," said Dodson. "I believe we would have won tonight if it was not for the flat tire. We have been solid the last few races so I believe we will be a threat to win at Chicago.
The R.E. Technologies prepared No. 21 Team Six-R entry driven by Brian Tyler won the "USAC Silver Crown Series 100." The series will now head to Chicagoland Speedway for their next race on July 13th.
Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing sends their thoughts and prayers to the family of Bill Biddle.
POINTS UPDATE The No. 199 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Ford, Hoosier Tires, Red Line Oil entry remains in first place in the USAC Silver Crown Series owners points race. The No. 199 leads by 29 points over the No. 00 Reutimann Motorsports entry. Cameron Dodson sits in 7th in the series drivers points standing despite not driving in the season opener at Manzanita Speedway.
