"TRIPLEHEADER" AT ILLIANA WEDNESDAY -- MIDGETS, FOCUSES EYE GRUNDY; ARMSTRONG (2), LIGUORI & HAMILTON NOTCH "REGIONAL" WINS

USAC "Regional" racing this week includes Wesnesday night's "tripleheader" at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Ind. and Saturday night's Regional Midget and Midwest & UMRA Ford Focus Midget races at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill.

Dakoda Armstrong (Regional Midget), Dillon Welch (Kenyon) and Joe Liguori (Midwest Ford Focus) are respective point leaders entering this week's races.

Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. caught Dillon Welch on the white-flag lap and ended up winning Wednesday night's 30-lap USAC Kenyon Midget race at the Anderson Speedway. Welch led the first 28 laps before yielding to Armstrong's Bungee North America/Anderson Grain Kenyon/Yahama. Adam Wilson, Grant Galloway and Jared Marks rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.

Joe Liguori of Tampa, Fla. continues to lead the 2009 USAC Midwest Ford Focus Series standings after leading all 30 laps to win Thursday night's race at Mount Lawn Speedway. Tyler Cottongim was second, ahead of Chris Lamb, Jimmy Simpson and fast qualifier Coleman Gullick. Liguori drove the C & R Racing Beast to the win.

Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. scored a "hometown" victory in Thursday night's 30-lap USAC Kenyon Midget feature at Mount Lawn Speedway. Driving the Bungee North America/Anderson Grain Yamaha, Dalton grabbed the lead from Grant Galloway on lap 19 and never looked back. Taylor Ferns took second at the checkered flag ahead of fast qualifier Galloway, series point leader Dillon Welch and Nick Hamilton.

Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. won Thursday night's 30-lap USAC Regional Midget race at Mount Lawn Speedway in his Curtis Motor Sales/Pitfit Training Beast/Esslinger Ford, leading the last 24 laps to beat Dakoda Armstrong, Alison MacLeod, Caleb Armstrong and Mike Larrison. MacLeod led the first six laps of the race,
