USAC's Ohio "4-For-All" June 19-22 showcases Sprint and Midget series on dirt
Over $125,000 in total prize money and bonuses will be up for grabs when the USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Cars and USAC Midgets convene for the inaugural USAC "4-For-All" June 19-22 at four Ohio race tracks.
The new series debuts at Attica Raceway Park on Wednesday night, June 19 and continues at Fremont Speedway on Thursday, June 20 and Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night, June 21, with the finale slated Saturday night, June 22 at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
"The trend toward "doubleheader" programs has created more than a dozen for USAC's participants in 2002," said USAC Sprint/Midget Coordinator Jason Smith. "We are pleased to announce this new series and to welcome Fremont and Lima back to the USAC fold. Race fans will surely want to mark their calendars for this blockbuster week."
Since USAC debuted in 1956 a total of 125 USAC Sprint/Midget same-day "doubleheaders" have been held, with only 14 "sweeps" recorded. The last was by Kasey Kahne at Irwindale, Calif. last October but Jay Drake also swept a similar "doubleheader" at Eldora last June and could be among top threats for the "Battle of the Buckeyes" title.
Other drivers to record USAC Sprint/Midget "sweeps" were Dave Darland at Eldora in 1999, Jack Hewitt at Eldora in 1998, plus Hewitt in 1997, Tony Stewart and Doug Kalitta in 1995, Hewitt in 1991, Jeff Gordon in 1990 (twice), Rich Vogler in 1986, Ken Schrader in 1982, Ron Shuman in 1978 and Pancho Carter in 1977.
The USAC Ohio "4-For-All" is part of a 31-race 2002 calendar for the Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Championship. J.J. Yeley, who captured two of the three USAC "4-Crown Nationals" events at Eldora Speedway last year, is the defending Stoops Freightliner Champion.
