Jessup Makes First Silver Crown Start for Johnny Vance Racing

CAMBY, Ind. -- Marc Jessup jumped at the chance to run a USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown race for legendary car owner Johnny Vance on Saturday. Qualifying twentieth out of thirty-three cars at Nazareth Speedway, Jessup felt really comfortable in the Foxco-powered car.

"We were running around fifteenth, and we realized we were having a motor problem," said Jessup. Around lap seventy-three, the Johnny Vance Racing driver saw his first ever Silver Crown race come to an end with a fuel pickup problem.

"We already have the motor up to Foxco, and they will have it ready for Nashville on the twelfth," continued Jessup. "I am so grateful that I had the chance to drive for this team."

In the Valvoline National Sprint Car race, the Jessup Racing team was running sixth in the feature event when Jessup saw the black flag being displayed for his machine. The F5/Foxco-powered/Bill Davis Racing sponsored car had sprung a water leak.

When Jessup pulled into the pits, the crew discovered a blown head gasket, which in turn blew all of the water out of the exhaust system.

"This was extremely disappointing, as we were running so well," said Jessup. "We have not had very good luck this year, and this just added to it."

Marc Jessup will be running at the Terre Haute Action Track this Saturday in his family-owned sprinter. His next scheduled race for Johnny Vance Racing in the USAC Weld Silver Crown car will be at the Nashville Speedway on September 12th.
