NOBLESVILLE, Ind (Friday, May 19, 2006) - - After his recent departure from Western Speed Racing, USAC champion Michael Lewis leans into Concord Speedway this weekend with new enthusiasm after being tapped to drive for Wagner Racing.

Wagner Racing competes in the USAC Regional Midget Series with drivers Brandon and Nick Wagner. The team is owned by Dr. John Wagner. Currently Brandon leads the team in the point's standings sitting comfortably in sixth with brother Nick sitting six positions back in 12th.

Lewis heads to Concord Speedway second in USAC National Midget Series point standings and is looking forward to the ability to put Wagner Racing in victory lane and gain control of the points lead from USAC sensation Dave Steele.

"I'm very thankful for the opportunity to drive for Wagner Racing and Mr. Wagner," said Michael Lewis, a former winner of USAC's Turkey Night. "I knew it wouldn't take long before I was able to attach myself with a very respectable organization and I'm confident the Wagner Racing team has what it takes to land in victory lane. I'm really looking forward to Concord."

Marching into the event, Lewis currently sits up in the runner-up position just a slim six markers off the top spot. "Obviously the goal is to win this weekend, but I would like to bring Wagner Racing the points lead Sunday," mentioned Lewis who will carry personal entitlements from Puma and Bell Helmets this weekend.

Instead of piloting his familiar No. 40, Lewis switches to the No. 93 for the third event on the USAC NMS (National Midget Series) schedule. "It will be a little different walking into Concord and looking at a new number and new team. But when I put that helmet on, that's all out the door and it's time to do my job," explained Lewis, a former NASCAR Busch Series driver for Richard Childress Racing.

Lucas Oil, Beast Chassis and Esslinger Ford Engineering will serve as primary sponsors for Lewis this weekend. "I'm very excited to be representing my sponsors this weekend," continued Lewis. "Lucas Oil is a very familiar and winning name in Motorsports, Beast Chassis, they are the best in USAC and Esslinger Engineering, they are part of a winning combination, we're looking forward to explosive results on Sunday."

The team's intent is for the Noblesville, Indiana native to remain in the seat for the next USAC NMS event "The Night Before The 500" at Indianapolis Raceway Park on May 27th, 2006.

Following the Concord event, Lewis plans to stay put in the USAC ranks while continuing to see if other racing opportunities fall in place. I would like to go back into the NASCAR Busch Series or ARCA RE/MAX Series this season," added Lewis. But, I don't have anything definite plans in the future, just people trying to help me get there. My main focus right now is here in the USAC series with Wagner Racing. If something else develops we'll worry about it then. I have a job to do and that's what I plan on doing."
