Strong Finish At Big M Motorfest

Memphis, TN -- May 12, 2004 -- Boston Reid and Sammy Swindell finished strong despite difficult conditions at the Memphis USAC 100 at Memphis Motorsports Park Saturday.

On a hot May afternoon, the one groove racetrack made brakes an issue for many competitors at the Big M Motorfest presented by Brim's Snack Foods. The R.E. Technologies Racing team was not immune to the brake problems. The #35 Curb Records machine, driven by Boston Reid, suffered brake problems a quarter of the way through the event. From there Boston and the team worked to maintain their position and finish 13th.

"We had a really good car all day," said Reid. "I went into three real hard one time and we lost the brakes."

The team worked with the Silver Crown Rookie of the Year Candidate and coached him around the track, maintaining position.

"The guys were awesome on the radio trying to keep me going," stated Reid. "For the type of the day that we had, the team did great job and gave me an awesome car."

Sammy Swindell's #191 was off to a great start during pre-race practice turning laps below 1:21.5 seconds. A last minute gear change slowed the car and dashed his chances for a qualifying position near the front. Starting last in 36th position, Sammy quickly moved the Ronnie McDowell sponsored car through the field and was challenging for a top 15 spot when problems forced his retirement. The team finished 23rd.

NEXT RACE

The R.E. Technologies Racing team travels to Boston Reid's home state for the Hoosier Hundred on May 28th at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

"I am excited about returning to Indiana and my friends and family coming out to see the team," said Reid. "I watched a lot of Hoosier Hundreds when I was a kid. I am thrilled to be able to participate in the race."

The Hoosier Hundred is the first dirt race of the season for the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series.

ON THE POINT

The R.E. Technologies Racing team and Boston Reid moved up in points from 11th to 8th following the Memphis USAC 100. This is the highest the team has been in points following the second race of the year.
