SPECTACULAR KENYON MIDGET TITLE RACE ENDS AT ANDERSON SUNDAY; YOUNG'S 1ST TITLE SECURE AS MARIETTA WINS AT BERLIN

Only one point separates Caleb Armstrong and Drew Charlson in USAC's highly-competitive Kenyon Midget Series entering this weekend's racing festival at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

The two drivers will batte for supremacy in a 30-lap feature on Sunday after qualifications and heat races on Saturday at the 1/4-mile paved oval. The season's champion will be crowned at the conclusion of Sunday's race!

This year's series would seem to give Charlson the nod at Anderson, having scored three wins and five seconds there, but Armstrong has won two of the last three outings and has the one-point lead.

Travis Young of Franklin, Ind. was crowned USAC's 2008 Regional Midget Champion Saturday, despite not competing in the series finale at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. He entered the race with an insurmountable lead over runner-up Alison MacLeod, who led the first 18 laps of the 25-lap Berlin feature and finished second to Mario Marietta.

Marietta, of Indianapolis, Ind., earned his initial USAC Regional Midget victory in front of a packed house at Berlin Raceway, leading the final seven laps in his First Financial Bank/White Construction Beast/Mopar to beat MacLeod, Dallas Melby, Alfred Galedrige Jr. and fast qualifier Brian Olson.

Joe Liguori of Tampa, Fla., who finished sixth at Berlin, completed the series as the third-ranking driver.
