WINCHESTER, IN (October 20) -- Although he enters Sunday's MCI Worldcom/USAC Midget Car Series race at Winchester Speedway with a commanding advantage, Kasey Kahne isn't thinking about points. "We're just trying to win races," Kahne said Friday. "We haven't run the midget much lately. We won the last midget race, but we've been racing with the Silver Bullet Series more lately." Kahne won the last MCI Worldcom/USAC Midget Car Series race, the Four Crown Nationals at Eldora on September 30th. Kasey started outside the third row and passed pole-sitter Sarah McCune during the fifth lap. He rode the rim around the high-banked, 1/2-mile oval throughout the final 25 1/2 laps for his sixth victory of the season. After 20 of 23 events, Kahne leads Jay Drake by 241 points. Following the Winchester event, only a November 18th race at Bakersfield Speedway and the season finale at Irwindale November 23rd remain on the 2000 schedule. In 19 starts, Kahne has 18 top-10 finishes, including 14 in the top five. He has been the fastest qualifier four times.
