Dave Fitzgerald of Salt Lake City, Utah will try to protect his 17-point lead in the USAC/SLVRA Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series this Saturday night when the series resumes at Rocky Mountain Raceways in the Utah capital.

Fitzgerald is the winningest driver in USAC racing in Utah history, with 10 feature victories to his credit. He scored nine USAC Supermodified wins at his home track in 1985 and 1986 and won the opening event of the brand-new series this May. Since then he's had to settle for "top-five" finishes in the succeeding three races behind the Bergener family!

Jeff Bergener and Mark Bergener have swept the last three USAC/SLVRA events and pose Fitzgerald's biggest threat this Saturday night, although former SLVRA Champion Jim Waters currently ranks second in the standings behind Fitzgerald. Waters' worst finish in four starts so far has been a sixth.

Jeff Bergener ranks third in the standings, while Mark has yet to crack the "top-10." A 40-lap feature event caps Saturday night's program of racing on the 3/8-mile paved oval.
