"HOT FOOT" JASON MEYERS LOOKS TO CONTINUE HOT STREAK WITH PEDREGON
CLOVIS, Calif. (March 21, 2008) - Continuing to take advantage of the extended World of Outlaws (WoO) break, Clovis, Calif. native Jason Meyers has teamed up with NHRA driver Cruz Pedregon to pilot the Advance Auto Parts Toyota midget entry for the USAC midget race at Bakersfield Speedway.
ANOTHER SHOT AT VICTORY LANE - LOOKING FOR FIRST MIDGET WIN
Coming off of a visit to victory lane at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., last weekend, Meyers is undoubtedly one of the hottest drivers in the country right now. Spending three weeks in a row thus far on the coveted National Speed Sport News Power Rankings, currently residing in fourth, Meyers has eighteen top-five finishes, including seven wins, in the last twenty races, a streak which dates back to the end of last season. "Without a doubt, our Elite Racing Team is clicking right now, which is what our goal was in running in these non-Outlaw events during this break," said a happy Meyers from his home shop in Clovis, California. "We definitely needed the time and the laps to make sure we have this car under us the way we wanted, and it's working."
NOT QUITE AS FAST AS A NHRA FUNNY CAR -- BUT CLOSE
Teaming up with Cruz Pedregon and his Advance Auto Parts Toyota midget for the USAC midget races at the famed Bakersfield Speedway on Saturday has Meyers fired up. Having had a disappointing run at the 2008 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, Meyers is looking for a bit of redemption. "Obviously, I race sprint cars for a living, and driving a midget is similar in some ways and completely different in other ways," said Meyers. "We had a great car at Chili Bowl, however just had some bad luck and I'm looking to turn that around on Saturday in Bakersfield. I'm looking forward to teaming up with the Cruz Pedregon Racing guys and using some of our momentum as of late to put the Toyota in victory lane."
