CAMERON DODSON AND CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING WIN THE "CASEY'S GENERAL STORES 100" AT IOWA SPEEDWAY

NEWTON, Iowa -- Cameron Dodson and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing claimed their first K & N USAC Silver Crown Series Championship victory of the season Sunday afternoon at the "Casey's General Stores 100" at Iowa Speedway.

The team arrived in Newton after a frustrating run of bad luck in Indiana ready to redeem themselves. When the No. 199 Yates-Roush Ford powered Price Ford/ Red Line Oil entry hit the track, Cameron Dodson and the team began to make adjustments through practice, tweaking the No. 199 for additional speed. When it came time to qualify, Dodson was on the throttle qualifying 6th. Teammate Michael Annett qualified 11th in the R.E. Technologies prepared No. 121 TMC and Steve Arpin qualified 20th in the No. 35 in his first trip to Iowa Speedway.

When the green flag dropped, Cameron Dodson drove straight towards the front early in the race, overtaking cars on the outside. By lap 23, Dodson was passing USAC veteran Brian Tyler for the lead. Veteran Tracy Hines would slip by Dodson on lap 26 but Cameron Dodson would not give up battling with Hines and winning three laps later. Tracy Hines would get around Dodson on a restart but his lead would only last one lap as Cameron Dodson again retook the lead on lap 63. A late caution would find Dodson in the lead, Michael Annett running in 3rd and Steve Arpin in 5th. Racing resumed again with only five laps to go. Cameron Dodson drove away while Annett battled with Tracy Hines for second. On the final lap on the backstretch Hines slowed dramatically and Michael Annett made unavoidable contact with him. The contact would cause the Iowa native to loose a few positions and finish 6th. Steve Arpin checked up to avoid the action in front of him and finished 9th, gaining more positions than any driver during the race. Cameron Dodson's win Sunday was his second USAC Silver Crown career with, the first coming in 2007 in the No. 199 Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing entry at Phoenix.

With their first place finish Sunday, the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team recorded their third podium finish of the season. The team finished third with Ricky Stenhouse behind the wheel at Manzanita and second with Cameron Dodson piloting the No. 199 at Richmond. The win propelled the team to second in the USAC Silver Crown Series Championship owner's points race. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. missed the Iowa race weekend driving for Roush-Fenway Racing in the ARCA ReMax Series. The latest "Tony Bettenhausen 100" winner will rejoin the No. 199 Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Racing team this weekend to defend his title at the at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois.
