TEAM HOPES TO SHAKE OFF THE DUST AT SPRINGFIELD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- August 15, 2006 -- The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team is looking to bounce back after a tough day at Terre Haute. The No. 199 team finished out of the top ten for the first time this season.

"Terre Haute was frustrating," said Jerry Coons Jr. driver of the No. 199. "Our goal this weekend is to go into Springfield, finish all 100 laps and be up front towards the end."

A good finish could move the No. 199 team up in the points standings. Right now the team is sitting fifth in the owners points standings, just one point out of fourth and twelve points out of third. The driver of the No. 35 Dynotech/J&J Silver Crown car, rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is looking forward to returning to the dirt mile tracks.

"I am excited to return to the mile tracks since it seemed like I adapted better to Indianapolis than Terre Haute," said Stenhouse. "I want to improve on our 14th place finish at the Hoosier Hundred. I have gained a little more experience in these cars so I think we will be a lot better off going into Springfield."

The Mississippi native will make his third start in the USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N Engineering at a track he as never seen. While the rookie has never visited the Springfield mile, his teammate, Jerry Coons Jr. and crew are quite familiar with the one-mile dirt oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team has racked up one pole and four podium finishes in the last five years at Springfield. The pole came two years ago with Jerry Coons Jr. behind the wheel.

"Overall we have performed well on one mile dirt tracks," smiled Coons. "We have been pretty consistent on all of the miles be it Syracuse, DuQuoin, Indy or Springfield."

The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team has scored poles at Springfield, DuQuoin and Syracuse with the Arizona native behind the wheel.

COONS WINS DURING WEEK OFF

Jerry Coons Jr. has not spent his time off from the Silver Crown car quietly. Coons won the POWRi Midget Series race at Granite City, Illinois and then won the Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa, Iowa. "The more you run, the more you can stay sharp and that keeps you fresh behind the wheel all of the time."
