POSEY EYES UTAH TITLE SATURDAY; HUNTER, BOWMAN CLAIM VICTORIES; DILLON CANCELLED

Kipp Posey of Lehi, Utah hopes to nail down his first USAC driving title Saturday when the Auto Trader Utah Developmental Ford Focus Series concludes at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City. Three drivers battle for USAC's California Pavement Ford Focus point lead this Saturday at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif.

Posey has won three of the last four RMR features and is 44 points ahead of James Powell with 74 points available Saturday. Powell has two wins and five seconds in RMR action this year.

Scott Hunter of Walled Lake, Mich. led the final 13 laps of Tuesday night's Carolina Ford Focus race at Concord (NC) Motorsports Park for his first-ever USAC feature victory. He took the lead on lap 28 when Michael Ward, who led the first 27 laps, tangled with a lapped car. Hunter was trailed at the checkered flag by Bradley Riethmeyer, Jake Dallenbach, Shane MacMillan and fast qualifier Rick Fedrizzi. Riethmeyer continues to lead the series standings with the next race scheduled September 20 at Jacksonville, N.C.

Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. is the new leader in the California Dirt Ford Focus series after winning Saturday's 20-lap race at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway. Tyler Edwards led the first seven laps but slipped to third behind Cody Swanson at the finish. Walt Johnson and Jet Davison rounded out the "top-five," with Johnson now trailing Bowman by two points going into an October 4 race at Ventura Raceway.
