USAC Ford Focus competition unfolds at tracks in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, California and North Carolina as mid-season activity remains at a fever pitch.
Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. leads the Midwest Series to Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio Friday night and the Indiana Series to Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. Wednesday night. Michael Mohelski of Frederick, Md. stands atop the Carolina Series, which competes Wednesday night at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park. Brad Greenup is number one in the USAC/UMARA points going into Saturday night's race at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Justin Hommel of Canyon Lake, Calif. leads the California Pavement Series to Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy. Calif. Saturday, while Charlie Butcher of Santa Barbara, Calif. is the leader in the Junior Focus Series which races Saturday night at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.
Alison MacLeod of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada earned her fifth USAC feature victory Wednesday night at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway, leading the last 26 laps of the 30-lap Midwest/Indiana feature in her Ribwear/Ford Racing Beast. The victory ties her with Stephanie Mockler and Audra Sasselli as the winningest female drivers in USAC history. Kyle Hamilton finished second ahead of Andy Nock, who led the first four laps, Eric Fehrman and Tyler Cottongim.
Rick Fedrizzi of Harrisburg, N.C. led all 30 laps of Wednesday night's Carolina feature at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park to beat Bryce Burden, Shane MacMillan, Marc Daily and Bradley Riethmeyer. Series point leader Michael Mohelski finished seventh.
Bobby Michnowicz of Torrance, Calif. passed series point leader Walt Johnson on lap eight and led the last eight laps of Saturday night's 15-lap California Pavement feature at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Johnson took second ahead of Wally Pankratz, Tyler Edwards and Nick Carlson.
Edwards, of Salina, Okla., led all 15 laps of Saturday night's Junior Focus feature at Ventura Raceway to beat Andrew Mulhearn, Davie Perry Jr., Jake Swanson and series point leader Charlie Butcher.
