INDIANA, ILLINOIS, VIRGINIA & CALIFORNIA HOST FOCUSES; POWELL WINS AT SLC, RAIN TAKES THE REST

Five 2008 USAC Ford Focus Championships will be impacted by events this week as races take place in Indiana, Illinois, Virginia and California.

Anderson (Ind.) Speedway hosts Wednesday night's Midwest/Indiana event, part of the track's historic six feature-event program also involving the Regional and Kenyon Midgets. On Saturday the Midwest/UMARA series combine at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill., while the Carolina series competes at Shenandoah (Va.) Speedway and the California Dirt series resumes at the Ventura Raceway.

Auston Harris of Hayward, Calif. leads both the Midwest and Indiana series, while Michael Mohelski of Frederick, Md. leads the Carolina standings, Brad Greenup of Channahon, Ill. leads the UMARA points and Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. sits atop the California Dirt standings.

James Powell of Herriman, Utah led the final 22 laps of Saturday night's 25-lap Auto Trader Utah Developmental Ford Focus feature at Rocky Mountain Raceways. Series point leader Kipp Posey was second ahead of Jim Waters, Greg Fuette and Jeff Kelley. Fuette led the first three laps.

Rain forced cancellation of Ford Focus races at Mount Lawn Speedway New Castle, Ind. Wednesday (Indiana) and Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Saturday (UMARA).
