FOCUSES TO BAKERSFIELD, SHENANDOAH & SALT LAKE CITY; IRWIN, BURT SCORE FEATURE WINS; CLOUSER LOCKS UP TITLE

USAC's California Dirt, Carolina and Utah Developmental Ford Focus Series continue their 2007 slate Saturday, with races at Bakersfield (California Dirt), Shenandoah, Va. (Carolina Series) and Salt Lake City (Utah Developmental).

Nic Faas, Tanner Swanson and Tim Savage will try to maintain their respective point leads in the Saturday races. All three are seeking their initial USAC driving championships.

Swanson finished fifth in last Saturday's 35-lap feature Carolina feature presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Va. Mark Burt of DeBary, Fla. won the 35-lapper over Andre Villareal, Kyle Bonsignore, Michael Sboro and Swanson, who was the night's fastest qualifier. Swanson takes a 24-point lead over Sboro into Saturday's race at Shenandoah Speedway. Burt is 45 points behind the leader, third in the new standings.

Tyler Irwin of Polson, Mont. led all 20 laps of Saturday night's Midwest/UMARA Focus feature at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Trailing his Irwin Racing Beast were UMARA point leader Mario Clouser, Midwest leader James Robertson, Craig Haack and Chett Gehrke. Robertson's finish moved him ahead of Gehrke by four points going into a September 28 race at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway.

Clouser's finish left him as the 2007 USAC/UMARA Ford Focus Champion as that series completed its season Saturday. Clouser was also Saturday's fastest qualifier.
