FOCUSES AT SALT LAKE CITY, HANFORD AND COLUMBUS SATURDAY; IRWIN, FITZPATRICK, GEHRKE & RAIN TOP FOCUS ACTIVITY

USAC Ford Focus Midget racing occurs in Utah, California and Ohio this week as participants in the Utah Developmental, California Dirt and Midwest Series take to the track.

Saturday races are scheduled at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. and Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway. Jeff Kelley (Utah), Nic Faas (California Dirt) and Robby Parish (Midwest) enter the weekend as the respective series leaders.

Tyler Irwin of Polson, Mont. and Chett Gehrke of Broken Arrow, Okla. scored feature wins in Ford Focus competition last week. Irwin led all 30 laps Wednesday in his Irwin Racing Beast at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. to win the Indiana Ford Focus race over Gehrke, Craig Haack, Eric Fehrman and J.T. Hiltibran. Gehrke came back to lead all 30 laps in his Indy Performance Companies/Scooter Ellis Rentals Beast at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway Saturday, beating Parish, Jordan Pennington, Mario Clouser and Bill Griffith to the line in the Midwest/Indiana feature.

Rain forced postponement of Saturday's Carolina Richard Petty Driving Experience Focus event at the Orange County Fairgrounds Rougemont, N.C. Track and USAC officials are working to re-schedule the race.
