INDIANAPOLIS -- Teenager Michael Sboro of Watertown, N.Y. continues to close in on his first USAC title as he leads Brit Andersen of Branford, Conn. and the rest of the Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series contingent into Saturday's race at Oswego Speedway in Oswego, N.Y. for a prominent showdown with a hometown favorite.

Andersen and Sboro finished one-two in Saturday's "Boston Louie Seymour Memorial Classic" at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass. Andersen, in the No. 70 Beast/Ford Focus, led all but the opening three laps to score his second victory of the Northeast season.

Trailing the pair -- both in their second year of Ford Focus competition after Top 10 point finishes in last season's Carolina/Virginia standings -- were Jeff Abold, Aaron Wall and Ryan Smith, who led the first three laps.

Sboro leads Abold -- a native of Oswego -- by 39 points heading into Saturday' s action. Only two races remain in the Northeast division, which is in its inaugural season. Nick Wean, who finished sixth at Seekonk, retains third in points, five behind Abold. <pre> NORTHEAST FORD FOCUS MIDGET CAR SERIES STANDINGS 1. Michael Sboro 485 2. Jeff Abold 446 3. Nick Wean 441 4.
