Drew Sprague,18 year-old Skowhegan,Maine racer placed a solid fourth in a United States Auto Club(USAC) Northeast Ford Focus Midget Series competition on Saturday,July 30,at the Chemung Speedrome in Chemung,New York.

At the wheel of legendary USAC car owners Bobby and Mike Seymour of Marlborough,Massachusetts #29 Hawk midget Drew qualified fourth in his six-car heat as he adjusted to a new race car and a new track. In the feature with a field of eighteen competitors Drew sat in the tenth position when the green flag started the race on the banked 3-8 mile paved oval. This event amassed the largest field of Focus Midget drivers ever in the three-year history of the six-region National program.

Within three laps Drew was in third place and on the heels of the two lead drivers. For fifteen laps Drew ran in the third slot and with a seven-car margin to fourth.A caution on the nineteenth lap regrouped the field and and the last six laps brought Northeast Focus Midget Series points leader Michael Sboro in an ongoing battle with Drew for the third and fourth positions. The #29 developed a severe loose condition going in to the turns in the last few laps and Sboro was working every angle to capitalize on that issue.

When the checkers flew at Lap 25 Drew was solidly in the fourth position with Sboro just inches ahead.
