MIDWEST FOCUS MIDGETS HIT ANDERSON, XENIA THIS WEEK

INDIANAPOLIS -- Tate Martz and the rest of the USAC Midwest Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series participants have another busy week with two races -- one each in Indiana and Ohio.

The series hits Anderson (Ind.) Speedway this Wednesday, part of "Wednesday Night Thunder." Drivers will also travel Friday to visit Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio.

Bradley Riethmeyer of Houston, Texas, the winner of the All-American Driver Challenge, which awards one driver a full season in the USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series, also expects to compete Wednesday and Friday. Riethmeyer competed last week at South Bend and won a Carolina/Virginia feature Saturday at Shenandoah Speedway in Virginia.

Martz padded his lead in the Midwest Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series last week with a victory and second-place finish. His victory came at South Bend (Ind.) Motor Speedway, leading all 30 laps to beat Zach Schiff, James Robertson, Mario Clouser and Casey Riggs to the starting line.

The Rushville, Ind. native finished second behind Chett Gehrke, who won his first USAC Ford Focus race Friday at Madison International Speedway in Wisconsin. Gehrke took the lead from RickY Ehrgott on Lap 22 and led the remainder of the 30-lap feature. Behind Gehrke, Martz and Ehrgott were Clouser and Robertson.

Sunday's USAC Midwest Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series race at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. was rained out.
