SEPTEMBER 16 NEW CASTLE "TRIPLEHEADER" CANCELED; PRUETT, HAACK & HAMILTON TAKE MOUNT LAWN FINALES

Alex Pruett, Craig Haack and Kyle Hamilton scored feature victories in Sunday afternoon's USAC Regional competition at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind., bringing to a close the "tripleheader" programs at the 3/10-mile paved oval for 2007. The originally-scheduled September 16 events at the track have been canceled.

Pruett, of Carefree, Ariz., won Sunday's 30-lap Regional midget feature in his Pruett Group Racing Syndicate/Three Wide Life Beast/Esslinger Ford, leading the final six laps after leader Travis Young was spun out. Pruett was trailed by James Robertson, Chris Hettinger, Dakoda Armstrong and Joe Liguori. Robertson's finish left him 103 points ahead of Pruett in the new Regional standings going into a September 8 race at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill.

Hamilton, of Danville, Ind., scored his ninth feature victory of the 2007 Kenyon Midget campaign Sunday at New Castle, leading the final 13 laps of the 30-lap race in his Curtis Motor Sales/WKLU Radio Yamaha. Caleb Armstrong led the first 17 laps and finished second ahead of Jeff Wimmenauer, Cale Conley and Dalton Armstrong. Hamilton has a commanding lead in the series standings going into a September 7 race at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

Haack, of Lewisburg, Tenn., earned his initial Indiana Ford Focus triumph of 2007 in Sunday's 25-lapper at Mount Lawn. He put his Haack Racing/Robertson Drywall Beast into the lead on lap 12 and never looked back, beating Tyler Irwin, Andy Nock, Steven Mathews and Chett Gehrke. Nock and Eric Fehrman also led the feature. Gehrke's point lead extended to 18 points over Fehrman going into the October 6-7 series finales at Anderson, Ind.
