Ave leads Ford Focuses to Baer Field Sunday.

The USAC Indiana Ford Focus Midget Car Series makes its initial appearance at Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne, Ind. this Sunday afternoon and Tony Ave will return to defend his point lead in the new series.

Ave won the series opener at Anderson, Ind. April 6 and leads Chad DeSelle by five points going into Sunday's race.

Included in the expected entries are all the drivers who earned points at Anderson, plus additional series newcomers, including a pair of females, Samantha Weakley and Heather Margo.

A 20-lap feature event is scheduled on Baer Field's 3/8-mile paved oval.

The race is USAC's first in Fort Wayne since Tom Bigelow's victory in an indoor Midget race at Memorial Coliseum in 1989. USAC's initial racing event was conducted in Fort Wayne on January 8, 1956, an indoor Midget race at Memorial Coliseum won by Gene Hartley.
