INDIANAPOLIS -- The battles for USAC's Regional, Indiana Ford Focus and Kenyon Midget Car Series championships are heating up after races last Wednesday at Anderson, Ind. Now, those holding the leads in their respective divisions hope to push open their leads this Wednesday at New Castle, Ind.

All three series are back in action at Mt. Lawn Speedway for "Wednesday Night Thunder" races.

Kyle Nicholas earned his initial USAC victory in Regional competition last week at Anderson Speedway, leading all 30 laps in his No. 02 Beast ahead of Bryan Clauson, point leader Scott Thoman, Stephanie Mockler and Alex Pruett. Thoman leads Travis Young, who dropped out of the event while running second, by 74 points.

James Robertson took the USAC Midwest Pavement/Indiana Ford Focus event, topping the competition Wednesday at Anderson Speedway in Indiana. He drove the No. 42 Robertson Drywall Beast to the stripe first ahead of Ricky Ehrgott, Martz, Mario Clouser and Adam Kramer. He now leads Martz by 30 points.

Sammy Imel continued to close on Chris Windom for the Kenyon point lead, taking another victory at his hometown track. He bested Kenny Biro, Windom, Kyle Hamilton and Jordan Pennington for the victory. Imel is now 15 markers behind Windom for the point lead.
