SCOTT LOOKS TO DEFEND USAC CAROLINA/VIRGINIA FOCUS CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY AT SHENANDOAH

INDIANAPOLIS -- The stage is set for reigning USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series champion Chase Scott of Concord, N.C. to successfully defend his title Saturday at Shenandoah Speedway in Shenandoah, Va.

Scott holds a 59-point advantage over Robbie Ray heading into Saturday's doubleheader, the first races for the series since Sept. 10 at the same track. Scott was victorious there in a 35-lapper. Twin 25-lappers are scheduled for Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval, a week following the cancellation of a race at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, N.C.

Scott is looking to become the third driver to win back-to-back USAC Ford Focus titles in history. Initial champion Todd Hunsaker won California titles in 2002 and 2003, while Tate Martz defended his Midwest championship two weeks ago. Ray is the only other driver to win two Ford Focus crowns, winning the Midwest in 2003 and the National championship last month.
