NEW YORK NORTHEAST FORD FOCUS VENUES ADDED TO CAROLINA CHAMPIONSHIP SLATE

Two USAC Ford Focus races originally slated as part of the Northeast Series in 2008 have been retained and will become part of the 2008 Carolina Ford Focus Championship, also serving as Northeast Special Events.

Participants from the Carolina Series will compete in the July 4 and 5 races at Williamson and Chemung, N.Y. respectively, continuing USAC's link to the Northeast as negotiations continue toward restoring this region to the 2009 inventory of USAC racing series.

Spencer Speedway in Williamson hosts the Friday night, July 4 race, while the Saturday night, July 5 venue is the Chemung Speedrome.

The Carolina Series presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience continues tomorrow night (June 25) with the first on nine appearances at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park and Mike Mohelski of Frederick, Md. stands as the point leader after winning two of the three races held so far.

Spencer Speedway hosted two Northeast events last season, won by 2007 Northeast Series Champion Jeff Abold and Ryan Osborne, who currently ranks fifth in the Carolina points. Chemung Speedrome has hosted four previous events, Nick Wean winning in 2005, Ryan Smith in 2006 and Abold and Steve Intravaia in 2007. Intravaia is currently third in the Carolina points.
