Gaerte Engines of Rochester, Ind., Esslinger Enginineering of S. El Monte, Calif. and Roush/Yates Engines of Mooresville, N.C. are the early leaders in the 2008 USAC "Power Trip" presented by Calico Coatings standings, honoring top engine builders in USAC's National racing series.

Points earned in selected events this season will determine the top engine builders in USAC's K & N Silver Crown Series presented by Optima Batteries, the USAC National Sprint Car Series and the USAC Mopar National Midget Series. Each champion engine builder will receive a $3,000 cash bonus at season's end.

Events used to determine points include the August 10 Newton, Ia., August 16 Springfield, Ill. and November 6 Phoenix, Ariz. Silver Crown races; the August 5 Oskaloosa, Ia., September 20 Rossburg, Ohio and September 28 Winchester, Ind. Sprint races; and the August 1-2 Belleville, Kans., November 6 Phoenix, Ariz. and November 27 Irwindale, Calif. Midget races.

Builders finishing in the "top-six" USAC point earners of these USAC events earn championship points on an international table of nine for a victory, six for second, four for third, three for fourth, two for fifth and one for sixth.

Eligibility includes visible display of Calico decals and ties will be broken by the most points earned in the final event of each series.

The 2008 USAC "Power Trip" presented by Calico Coatings champions will be honored at USAC's National Awards Banquet.
